Every year, eager travelers journey to Europe to experience the yuletide season at its very best. With the backdrop of winter white hilltops, twinkling lights and extravagantly decorated cities, you'll undoubtedly get swept up in the enchantment and wonder that's in the air. Experience Europe in a whole new light by River Cruise Luxury.
Vacation Idea of the Month (October): Beer Enthusiast River Cruise
Have you been thinking of a European River Cruise but sipping wine on the Rhine just isn't for you? Consider yourself a beer connoisseur? Then have we got a river cruise for you!
Travel from Budapest to Prague, or other European route aboard a luxury river cruise vessel and you’ll be joined by a local beer expert who will give lectures and tastings on board. He’ll take you on a pub crawl and host a food and beer-pairing dinner on board. And there are visits to family-owned breweries in Vienna and Passau, where you of course get to taste their beer!
Begin this timeless European river cruise in Budapest, where guided sightseeing acquaints you with the highlights of the vibrant capital of Hungary, such as Heroes Square, Fishermen’s Bastion, and Chain Bridge. Set sail on the Danube, take pictures of the impressive Parliament Building as you leave Budapest, and head for Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Enjoy a guided walk and visit gothic St. Martin’s Cathedral. Vienna, Austria, the “City of Music,” makes an immediate impression with its lavish Hofburg Imperial Palace and neo-renaissance Vienna Opera House. Enjoy the magnificent views of the picturesque Wachau Valley, with stops for a guided walk in Dürnstein, a visit to the impressive Benedictine Abbey of Melk, and a tasting of some of the renowned local wines. A guided walk will take you around Passau, Germany, uniquely located where the Inn, Ilz, and Danube rivers converge, and known for its maze of narrow cobblestone streets lined with beautiful patrician houses and St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a masterpiece of baroque architecture.
Say goodbye to your ship’s crew and head for Regensburg, one of Germany’s best-preserved cities. Lovers of architecture will delight in the treasure this town has to offer. Enjoy a tasting of local sausages before heading to beautiful Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, where this Danube river cruise vacation concludes. Known as the “Golden City,” a Local Guide will show you the must-see sights, such as St. Vitus Cathedral and Old Town’s medieval Astronomical Clock, a unique and intricate piece of art unlike anything else in the world.
Vacation Idea of the Month (September): Galapagos
Lying just off the western coast of South America, the Galapagos archipelago is inaccessible to most, yet this isolation has allowed nature to develop in ways exclusive to the islands. From the moment you arrive in the Galapagos, your eyes stay wide open. While waiting for a zodiac to take you over to your cruise ship, marine iguanas shuffle below the jetty and magnificent frigate birds glide over the bay. Another seabird dives sloe by, followed by a gang of pelicans performing tricks. Nature is everywhere and oh so easy to observe.
The Galapagos are a "once-in-a-lifetime" vacation and that these much-mythologized islands are a wildlife wonderland. But nobody tells you that the backdrop is also remarkable smooth, low islands, dotted by lime green forests with red-sloped volcanoes at their hearts and black beaches on their fringes.
Experience the Galapagos by ship with these travel partners or more!
- Celebrity Cruise Lines
- Silverseas Expeditions
Consider these fun activities - many are included in your cruise
- Zodiac Tours
- Nature hikes
The Galapagos islands will amaze you!

The Rhine Gorge area between Koblenz and Bingham, Germany in the Upper Rhine Valley offers a half day of non-stop castles, churches and picturesque villages like no-where else on earth. You can spend hours admiring the views!
Some of my favorite activities during my river cruises included:

Vacation Idea of the Week (7/17): Maui, Hawaii
Stand above a sea of clouds high atop Haleakala. Watch a 45-foot whale breach off the coast of Lahaina. Lose count of the waterfalls along the road as you maneuver the hairpin turns of the Hana highway. One visit and it’s easy to see why Maui is called “The Valley Isle.”
The second largest Hawaiian island has a smaller population than you’d expect, making Maui popular with visitors who are looking for sophisticated diversions and amenities in the small towns and airy resorts spread throughout the island.
From the scenic slopes of fertile Upcountry Maui to beaches that have repeatedly been voted among the best in the world, a visit to the Valley Isle recharges the senses. But like every good magic trick, you’ll have to see it for yourself to believe it. Check out our Take off to Hawaii Sale
Top Attractions on Maui Include:
Haleakala National Park, Maui
Haleakala National Park, a scenic national park on the island of Maui and home to Maui’s highest peak.
Hana is a small, untouched town on Maui’s eastern coastline. To get here visitors must travel one of the world’s most scenic drives

Central Maui's Iao Valley State Park features one of Maui’s most recognizable landmarks, the 1,200-foot Iao Needle.
Kaanapali Beach, Maui

Makena Beach, also known as “Big Beach,” is one of the largest beaches in Maui.
Molokini is a small island a few miles off of Maui’s southwestern coast that’s well suited for snorkelers and divers.
Pools of Oheo, Maui
The Pools of Oheo, located just past Hana, are beautiful pools fed by cascading waterfalls.
Vacation Idea of the Week (7/11): Kauai, Hawaii
Lose yourself to the gentle trade winds. Take in the lush greenery. Inhale the fresh floral environment around you. Each Island has its own distinctive charm, and Kauai is the tropical centerpiece of Hawaii, full of outdoor activities, attractions and culture.
Explore Kauai’s beautiful beaches where you can sunbathe, snorkel or learn how to surf. Then visit Kauai’s humbling natural wonders, from Waimea Canyon to the Napali Coast. Take a break in Kauai’s small towns like Hanapepe, Hanalei and Old Koloa Town to get a taste of local food and art, as well as learn about the island’s fascinating history and culture. After a long day, watch the sunset from the comforts of your resort and recharge for another day of discovery on Kauai.

Daniel K. Inouye Kilauea Point Lighthouse, on Kauai’s northernmost tip, is a wildlife refuge offering amazing views.

Waimea Canyon, Kauai

Vacation Idea of the Week (7/3): The Big Island, Hawaii
It’s easy to feel awed on Hawaii Island. From the molten magma flowing from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park to the snow-capped heights of Maunakea; from the green rainforests of the Hamakua Coast to the jet-black sands of Punaluu Beach; Hawaii Island is an unrivaled expression of the power of nature.
To avoid confusion with the name of the entire state, the Island of Hawaii is often called the “Big Island,” and what an appropriate name it is. Nearly twice as big as all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined, its sheer size can be inspiring. You’ll find all but two of the world's climatic zones within this island’s shores.
The dramatic size and scope of the largest Hawaiian Island create a microcosm of environments and activities. On this island’s vast tableau, you’ll find everything from extravagant resorts and incredible golf courses to modest local towns and sacred Hawaiian historical sites, from the birthplace of King Kamehameha I to Hawaii’s first missionary church in Historic Kailua Village (Kailua-Kona). With so much to see, it’s best to experience the island in small pieces. There’s plenty of room on Hawaii Island for your return.
Top Attractions on Hawaii Island Include:
Akaka Falls State Park
See two gorgeous waterfalls on one pleasant 0.4-mile uphill hike that takes you through a lush rainforest filled with wild orchids, bamboo groves and draping ferns.
Hamakua Heritage Corridor
Drive from Hilo to the Waipio Valley Lookout and explore old plantation towns, see amazing waterfalls and discover scenic detours along the way.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Watch the landscape change before your very eyes at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Located 30 miles southwest of Hilo, this is the home of Kilauea volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on earth. The chance to witness the primal process of creation and destruction make this park one of the most popular visitor attraction in Hawaii and a sacred place for Native Hawaiians.
Founded in 1916, the Park encompasses 333,000 acres from the summit of Maunaloa to the sea. Here you'll find 150 miles of hiking trails through volcanic craters, scalded deserts and rainforests as well as a museum, petroglyphs, a walk-in lava tube and two active volcanoes: Maunaloa, which last erupted in 1984 and Kilauea which has been erupting since January 3rd, 1983. The extraordinary natural diversity of the park was recognized in 1980 when it was named a World Biosphere site by UNESCO and in 1987 when the park was again honored as a World Heritage site.
Hawaii's Scenic Byways
Hawaii Island is youngest of the Hawaiian Islands, and also the largest, boasting more miles and climate zones than anywhere else in Hawaii.
The Hilo region is blessed with dramatic waterfalls, fertile rainforests and blooming gardens.
Travel east, inland from the volcanic Kohala Coast to discover Waimea (also called Kamuela), which is unlike any other place on Hawaii Island. Known as paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) country this historic area full of rolling, green pastures is still home to cattle, cowboys and ranches.

Vacation Idea of the Week (2/14): CUBA Through Local Eyes
One destination that is growing in populartity this year is CUBA. It's the right time to visit if you are looking for authenticity and to travel before additional commercialization happens. Most visits need to be under the People to People program for your visa application to be processed. Tours are the way to get to CUBA in 2016. Here are some other interesting points to note.
- Commercial airlines are hoping to introduce flights to CUBA in 2016
- US Citizens must apply for a visa and travel affidavit to enter CUBA
- Many 2016 tours are already sold out and 2017 is filling quickly
